Magic and Mystery await all who enter our winter wonderland...
Come see what surprises we hold for you!

Kind Christmas Tree Workshop

We have added a special workshop to our December line up~

With our rush of new holiday ornaments and decorations came the Kind Christmas Trees, these Christmas trees are made with a collage of ornamentation placed on to a cone form. These one-of-a-kind decorations were designed by Lynn Newhall. The trees that she made for the store got so many comments and looked like so much fun to make that we asked Lynn if she would be willing to teach a class showing how to construct them. She said she would be thrilled and the wheels were in motion.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 4th
From 6 to 9pm
Cost-$60.00 (Includes cone form and additional supplies)

Please bring your own glue-gun and whatever else you would like to incorporate!

Bringing in the New Season with a Bang!

It's the day after our Holiday Open House and from the look of things it was a big success! The store was buzzing with people who were enjoying the wonderful food and drink as well as the beautiful ambiance created by Milton Merlos and his guitar. We held several angel workshops thoughout the day and evening which brought about some beautiful pieces of art. The other great success of the event was our Angel Card Readings given by the very talented JoAnna Manfredonia, who impressed everyone with her angel guided insights.
As for the ever-changing store, we are still getting new items every day, while we stock up for the busy times ahead. This event was only the beginning of the holiday season and we are looking forward to what the rest of the holidays will hold for us, as should you!

It's the start of the Holidays!

The pace at Artistree has definitely picked up lately as Summer slips away and fall is apon us; so many new things are going on as we begin to get into the holiday spirit! Besides the regular activities of throwing fabulously themed birthday parties and aquiring new unique items to fill the store, we are also holding special fall classes every week. These classes include creating our signature angels and faries with a fall feel and our super popular Halloween tiarra workshop that is an easy solution to not having anything to wear, but you still want to dress up- perfect to quickly put on to answer the door for trick-or-treaters! Don't be shy, everyone is an artist at ArtisTree.
Another special event we have planned is a two-day celebration of Day of the Dead held November 1st and 2nd, which includes guest lecturers and workshops on creating shrines to loved ones past, as well as decorating your own fun sugar skull. Other classes are also available so please call for more details.
Stay tuned for more info as we find the time to get it all down!

A never ending Adventure.

Artistree is always magical. There is never a day that i walk into the store and find my self wondering what to do. I simply look around and find myself staring at all of the endless possibilities of imagination that can occur in this store. From arts crafts to simply looking at the deeper meaning of all of the brilliant art that surrounds the store. Artistree holds it all, but in truth it brings more. It brings the people of Reno. When i say the people of Reno i mean that it brings all sorts of different kinds of characters. From the curious on lookers to the shy artists, there's always interesting people. Its because of this store that i had the privilege to met one of the most beautiful souls that i have ever come across. It was a Blistering hot day, the store was quite, we hadn't had that many people in, when we saw a women pull up and help an elderly women out of the car. She came into the store and immediately her eyes darted from left to right up and down at the many things to look at, she complimented our diversity and uniqueness, as well as our creativity. After a few minutes looking around the store my mother started to talk to her. She soon found out that this elderly women use to be a wonderful water color painter but her age had stoped her because she had a problem with shaking. Immediately my mother told her that she could help, and in about five minutes my mother was having her painting again. Its hard to say exactly what my mom did, but it was simple she showed her that the artistic candle that burned inside this women hadn't gone out but had simply dimmed itself for a little while. It was so beautiful witnessing someone being so happy, and watching someone find something that they thought they had lost forever. It was at this moment that i found out that the Artistree is a simply magical store of endless possibilities...

Down the Rabbit hole..

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland..? well what if you could find out. What if for a few hours you could be transported to a land of wonder, mystery, and silliness. Where everything was what it wasn't and what wasn't was what it is...? Well at the Artistree we can do that. Our Birthday parties are a magical adventure into Wonderland. For all ages. We set up an authentic Indie Tent where inside we decorate it with quite an emphases on detail to look just like the madhattters Tea Party. You are escorted into this magical adventure by the Mad Hatter Her self.. and a very pretty Alice. The Art projects and games are themed to suit the Alice in Wonderland party. We enjoy being creative and love seeing the smiles on the faces of the children when they see us.

Lights! Camera! Art!
Today is a very important day in the life of The Aritstree. One of Reno's own local TV shows came to our humble art gallery and decided to do a small piece on the creative space we call our store. They came in very professionally and set up three cameras as well as professional lighting's. It was all hard to believe that our tiny store who has only been open for 2 months would already have a spot in the one of Reno's Local TV shows. "Reno Pulse" likes to talk about Reno's hip and up coming places as well as events, and The Artistree is happy to be one of those hip Places. The show they were filming was focused on Art Town and my mom did a delightfully pleasant interview on how our store came to be, as well as art in her life, and of course the role of her daughters. The News Crew was amazingly friendly and professional, and I cant but hold in my excitement to see the show. I'll be happy to post the date, time, and channel number so everyone can get a view of it.
Positively Glowing,

Aloha! or as my mom would say Mahalo..

We have just returned from a 5 day trip to Kauai Hawaii where our days were very eventful including laying by the beach, hanging by the pool, and chilling in the jacuzzi, and on some of our most busy days we would venture to the nearest shopping area and spend some money. :) Hawaii brought us the peace we needed after opening up our first family owned store. My mom is now a bit more calm when looking at her day. Although we all miss the sunny weather, the cute and very friendly locals, and the Mai tais by the beach, were happy to be home in are quaint little shop and happy to spread more creative light onto the people of Reno. So stop by and say hello to the newly tanned and peaceful workers of the Aritstree. :)

Just Another Day at The Artistree

After a 15 minute bike ride, on a bike that's a lime green with poke-a-dots, i arrived at the Artistree for another day at work.. but can you call it work when you enjoy every bit of it... My mom owns a store where i get to create art, talk with nice people, and walk to Emerald City for the best scones in Reno Nevada, and i get paid to come here. This is a small blog to say what the Artistree means to me.. as a daughter, as an employ, and as a teenage girl. My mother, Nancy Nelson, has always surrounded my life with art, so when she told me she was going to open up a store where anyone could come in to make art i wasn't surprised. You see this is what was in the bottom of our house for about three years. My mom had created a studio in our house, and her friends as well as mine would go in there to create anything and everything, so when she told me she was going to create a store with the same kind of concept i felt that i was opening up a part of my life to the world to enjoy as well. So this is why i love this store. For the reason that its such a wonderful concept and idea that i cant help but be happy to go to work. Enjoy the art that i love, enjoy the Artistree.
